I am surprised at the amount of direct mail services I still receive in my mail box each day. There have only been a few that I actually pay attention to. Usually the ones that contain the coupons for some restaurants and the sales going on at the grocery stores. I usually ignore most of the ones that come, especially the ones from the car dealers that have the key attached to them. David used to always end up with the key to play with, now he’s older and has a real key to the house and doesn’t care about fake keys.
I do appreciate the amount of work that goes into a direct mailing. I remember when I worked as the office manager at the Amstar Mortgage branch I was at in Nashville, doing direct mailings. There was a lot of work to get all of those letters done and addressed. I think that if I was ever in that position again, I would rather hire someone else to handle the work! I do wonder if there is a real financial gain to direct mailings? I always wondered if what I was doing when I was sending out all those letters was gaining a profit at all.
